Do you have a favorite Tati film?

tothemaxxx:

“Playtime” viewed in 70 mm is not only my favorite Tati film, but ranks as one of my favorite films and filmgoing experiences. It’s like “Avatar” for us longtake-loving francophile aesthetes. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing the 70mm presentation twice at the Egyptian and each time I’ve discovered so many great new things in the film. You need to see it that big for all the micro sight gags to emerge. I think of “Playtime” in 70 mm as the biggest, most beautiful moving painting in the world. My only regret is that the first time I saw the film was on a rather small TV.

Go ahead and ask me anything

I was with Goldblatt one of those nights of Playtime in 70mm, and I’m right with him on every word of this.
